Laura Rathe Fine Art announces Summer Light, a group exhibition featuring new works by contemporary artists Cassandra Blackmore, Michael Laube, Gil Bruvel and Hunt Rettig. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Thursday, August 15th, from 5-8pm at 1700 Post Oak Blvd.

A selection of bold and colorful works will be on exhibit from these notable artists.  Summer Light explores how each artist breaks the conventions of their respective mediums while all utilizing and harnessing the effects of light to create their vision.  At first glance, the art forms are deceptively static. However, the viewers’ interactions with the art
buildsan accumulating narrative by exploring and discovering the movement, playfulness, and dimensional qualities of each piece.

Summer Light will be on display through September 20th, 2019.

FEATURED ARTISTS

Cassandra Blackmore has created the perfect combination of
imagemaking, texture, reflection and resurrection through her process of fusing painting and surface as one. Her unique technique of reverse painting allows light to shine through each crack in shattered glass forming a beautiful fluid creation with a variety of colors inspired by emotion.

Michael Laube’s work surpasses the boundaries of traditional painting by opening his work up to different dimensions of space and time. By capturing the color in his acrylic glass objects and installations through light, he creates a new force that is constantly open to new perspectives.

Gil Bruvel’s ever-changing inspiration has expanded into many mediums including painting, graphite pencil, bronze-casting, functional furniture, mixed media, public sculpture, and stainless steel. In his latest organic surge of artistic expression, Bruvel’s bold geometric sculptures speak to their surrounding environments creating a true connection with light.

Hunt Rettig’s 3D assemblages produce an illusion of 2D digital images through moldable synthetics and reflective acrylics creating kinetic movement. His process is inspired by sensual elements omnipresent in nature and by the continual discovery of unforeseeable forms.
