Laura Rathe Fine Art Houston presents Zhuang Hong Yi’s fourth solo exhibition, Color Reign

Houston, TX. Laura Rathe Fine Art (LRFA) announces a solo exhibition, Color Reign, featuring new works by renowned artist Zhuang Hong Yi. The opening reception will be held Friday, October 21st from 5-8pm at our River Oaks District gallery (4444 Westheimer Rd). The artist will be in attendance.

Zhuang Hong Yi, one of China’s most influential artists, utilizes complex patterns of color and texture to create his iconic Flowerbed series. While flying between his hometown of Beijing and Holland, Zhuang was inspired by the kaleidoscopic shift of colors in the flower fields below. This new solo exhibition includes Zhuang’s latest series of flowerbed works, which are made through various discoveries of new techniques and the attempt to perfect them. The new patterns, color combinations, flower structures and sizes represent Zhuang’s aspiration to always explore his artistic journey.

“It is my attempt to display the romantic imagining of beauty meandering amidst falling gentleness,” Hong Yi says. “Life’s beauty is the growing journey through ups and downs. Despite all ongoing news and challenges, flowers will always pop up year after year, providing hope and color when times seem to be despairing. We bloom, we shed, we decay, we hibernate and wait for the right light to start the whole process over again.”

Color Reign will be on display through November 16th.
