As seen in “A World Within” at Laura Rathe Fine ART HOUSTON

In our recent exhibition A World Within, at Laura Rathe Fine Art Houston, four celebrated artists shared new work that allowed our collectors to explore the emotional and aesthetic power of abstract forms. Among them, Lucrecia Waggoner’s porcelain vessels stood out as ethereal touchpoints and gave a sense of grace to the gallery as her floating expressions balanced movement and stillness. These aren't just art objects; they are visual poetry that elevate the atmosphere of a home, especially in spaces that may clients and designers find difficult to adorn.

Lucrecia Waggoner's work is rooted in meticulous craftsmanship. Each porcelain vessel is wheel-thrown, hand-glazed, and often enhanced with 24K gold or platinum luster, resulting in surfaces that subtly catch the light and change with the viewer’s perspective. The materials themselves are delicate and luminous that suggest a softness and elegance, while the form and placement create rhythm and motion.

One of the most compelling aspects of Waggoner’s installations is their adaptability to unconventional architectural spaces. Her work is frequently commissioned for stairwells, curved walls, and angular nook areas that defy the traditional limits of stretched canvas paintings or other framed art. The vessels, which are mounted individually, can be configured to follow the arc of a spiral staircase or meander up a sloping wall. In doing so, they turn transitional spaces into immersive experiences.

Many of Waggoner’s installations resemble floral arrangements caught mid-drift, evoking the sensation of petals blown by a soft breeze. This organic movement invites a sense of calm and wonder, bringing us both into and through a space. There’s a natural rhythm to her clustered or scattered compositions that bring a sense of harmony into a space, often helping balance modern architecture with something more human, more tender.

Beyond their visual impact, Lucrecia Waggoner’s vessels affect the psyche of a space. Their presence is quiet but undeniable. They don’t command a room; they whisper to it. Clients often describe feeling more centered, peaceful, and uplifted in their homes after the work is installed. It’s art that doesn't just decorate, it resonates.

As part of A World Within, Waggoner’s contribution reminded us that beauty can exist not just on a wall, but in the air around it. Her porcelain vessels offer more than design, they offer a sense of flow, a visual breath, and a deeper connection to the spaces we inhabit.
