Born in 1961, Remi Bourquin currently lives and works in Paris. The inspiration for his painting comes from his wide travels around the world. His favorite subjects are: the light house and zoo animals. He was drawn to the light houses for their evocation of the sensation of space, and the animals appeal to him for the emotions that he experiences while he observes then. He is inspired by his world travels and his signature subject is zoo animals.
The animals of Rémi Bourquin are filled with a benevolent power.
As regards the painting technique used, here everything is controlled, controlled. The result is a real sense of tranquility. The painter gives us to feel rather than see. The softness of a coat, the weight of a leg on a block of stone. A simple look, a simple attitude and we imagine vast distant landscapes.
Rémi Bourquin's animals share their dreams with us.
